Solar Facade Experience: Open House Event in San Jose

ClearVue hosted an open house on 17 June 2024 for the opening of its North American headquarters in San José, California.

San José Mayor, Matt Mahan, joined ClearVue at the event for a ribbon cutting.

ClearVue demonstrated how the glass surfaces of building façades can become solar energy generating. With San José being ranked the sixth greenest city in the U.S. in 2023 and the city’s Climate Smart San José initiative, in addition to Mayor Mahan’s commitment to electrification through renewable energy, this marks an important step in support of the city’s climate goals.

Approximately 20 local architects and developers attended the event.

“ClearVue offers some really exciting technologies. We’re excited that ClearVue has decided to locate here. We want to continue to be a center for innovation,” San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan said in an interview.

“Buildings should be able to produce energy on-site and not drag the electricity,” said Victor Rosenberg, ClearVue Chair and Founder.

“If you decentralize the energy, you don’t have to spend as much money upgrading the grid, it’s easier to cope with peak demand,” added Martin Deil, Global CEO. “

“Buildings should be net zero, they should be generating their own power,” Chuck Mowrey said.

Turn energy losses into energy gains

At ClearVue, we generate energy from clear glass glazing.  Our innovative technologies allow Insulated Glass Units (IGU) to generate electricity while maintaining the window’s transparency and the integrity of the building’s aesthetics. Incorporating complementary Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) technologies, ClearVue offers a building envelope solution that has the potential to generate and save sufficient energy to achieve sustainable building objectives.
