Based on the current project design, the installed systems are expected to provide approximately 75kW of installed generation capacity and generate around 88,000kWh of electricity annually. The integrated energy generation will contribute to the building’s targeted NABERS Energy rating.
Each of the three products has been engineered specifically for this project. This demonstrates ClearVue’s ability to tailor its core technology to a project’s architectural intent and commitment to continuous product development.
The Solar Balustrade sits within a landscaped garden area, which created two engineering requirements: no visible electrical wiring and full waterproof performance. ClearVue developed a bespoke framing system for the project that conceals all wiring inside the structural frame and paired it with the company’s latest Thermal Management Junction Box. For Canva, that means a usable, occupied garden space where the building envelope itself contributes to the headquarters’ energy generation.
ClearVue’s Solar Skylight has been designed as a trafficable solution for ease of maintenance. The glazing uses advanced coating technology reducing solar heat transmission and solar glare effect. The coating moderates the amount of infra red light transmission which reduces the sun‘s heat transmission by around 80% and reduces the harsh glare typical of a skylight. The practical benefit for Canva is that staff working under skylight can use their laptops without screen glare, in a cooler space, while the same glass surface generates renewable energy for the building, removing the need for expensive blinds or other high maintenance solar management options.
There is a small rooftop solar array which will be installed as part of the project using standard solar panels. The panels are part of an integrated planter box designed to minimise the urban heat island effects. ClearVue will provide both the panels and bespoke cable management design for the unique waterproofing requirements of the site.
